About Clotrimazole Cream 1%
  1. What is Clotrimazole Cream?

Clotrimazole is is an antifungal medication that is used to treat a wide range of fungal infections, such as itching rash, ringworm, athlete’s foot and nappy rash. Clotrimazole is widely prescribed for treating the symptoms of thrush.

It can be used on adults and children, including babies.

You can buy Clotrimazole Cream over the counter as well as on prescription.

What is Clotrimazole Cream used to treat?

Clotrimazole can provide fast-acting and effective relief from the symptoms of a number of infections caused by fungus.

    Clotrimazole is used to treat:

    • Thrush (vaginal and penile)
    • Ringworm
    • Nappy rash
    • Athlete's foot
    • Fungal Sweat Rash

It works to relieve uncomfortable symptoms like itching and irritation.

Clotrimazole is also a common treatment for thrush, which is a fungal infection caused by a fungus called candida, which can cause a number of symptoms and conditions such as candidiasis. Candida is the most common cause of fungal infections in humans.

Thrush thrives in warm and moist areas of the body, so it often occurs in places like the mouth and genitals.

Why is Clotrimazole recommended to treat thrush?

Clotrimazole has been used to treat various fungal infections since 1969 and is on the World Health Organisation's List of Essential Medicine.

If you use this cream as instructed, it will normally cure your infection after around one week.

    How does Clotrimazole treat thrush?

Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines known as topical imidazoles. It works by killing the fungi (yeast) that causes the infection. It can do this all over the body.

    Who can use Clotrimazole?

Before using it, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Clotrimazole or to any other medicine in the past. They should also know if you are currently using any other form of medication.

Can you buy Clotrimazole over the counter?
