What is Rhinolast nasal spray?
Rhinolast nasal spray is a prescription-only treatment for the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever).
It contains azelastine hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines, and can be used by adults and children who are over the age of 6.
What is Rhinolast nasal spray used to treat?
Rhinolast nasal spray is an effective treatment for relieving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
Allergic rhinitis may only affect you at specific points in the year, such as during the pollen season (hay fever). However, if you are allergic to substances like dust or animal fur you might suffer from this condition all year round. The common symptoms of allergic rhinitis include a runny, blocked or itchy nose, red, itchy or watery eyes and sneezing.
While it is a common problem, hay fever can seriously hinder you from living a normal life, often making it difficult to go outside in certain climates. For this reason, it is important to keep your symptoms at bay.
Why is Rhinolast recommended for hay fever?
Azelastine hydrochloride has been found to be an effective medicine for alleviating the symptoms of hay fever.
Rhinolast is also considered to be a safe nasal spray, which is why it can be prescribed for both adults and children.
How does Rhinolast nasal spray work?
This spray contains the active ingredient azelastine hydrochloride, which is an antihistamine medicine. It works by preventing the effects of a chemical called histamine, which your body produces naturally in response to an allergy trigger, such as animal fur or dust.
Histamine is normally a useful substance for the body, but when you come into contact with an allergy trigger, it can cause symptoms like itchy eyes, a runny or blocked nose, skin rashes and sneezing.
By inhibiting the production of histamine, these symptoms are significantly lessened, and you can continue with your day as usual.
Who can use Rhinolast?
Do not give Rhinolast nasal spray to anyone who is under the age of 6.
Do not use Rhinolast nasal spray if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients contained in this product (please refer to the Ingredients tab for full details).
If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before you start using Rhinolast.
Full details on who this medication may not be suitable for can be found in the patient information leaflet, which will come with your nasal spray. If you are unsure if this medication is suitable for you, please speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
